Donna's toes are looking pretty good, if your vet is still considering amputation, I think I would be getting a 2nd opinion. I do laser treatment on my hounds as well. The laser directs a ray of infra-red light energy into the injured area. It's the light energy that reduces inflammation and increases the blood flow which in turn encourages healing. It can also enhance the immune system and relieve pain. You can't burn Donna's skin with the laser. What I find is that the relief from using a laser is usually long lasting and there are no side effects that you could get with meds. Laser treatment is used on all kinds of injuries, from sprains to torn tissue, etc. Obviously what you are doing seems to be working .... I'll post Willy's boo-boo ... it's not quite the same but you'll be able to see where the tissue is missing. Hugs to Donna ...

When you had mentioned that Donna's toes were missing tissue I thought this might be what you had meant. That dark area over the top of his toenail has now scabbed over, for days it was blood red and raw. Also in between those two toes (where it is a pinky color) he lost tissue there. All I can think of he must have scraped off the skin while he was running on frozen snow and ice. Anyway, please keep us posted about Donna's progress. Glad she is doing much better.
