Hello!
I've been reading this forum regularly in the last few months, so first off - thank you all for your excellent advice and insight. It has made the adoption process and these first few exciting days that much easier!
A few weeks ago, I made my second visit to Bills, as it sounds like many of you have, "just to take a look and visit". Easier said than done! There were about 35 hounds there at the time and I had no idea how I'd ever pick...but then I saw a red girl at the back of one of the runs wiggling so hard with excitement her entire crate was shaking! So we went out for a walk and that was it. That little red girl, Lucy (aka McSweet), is now sprawled on the carpet at my feet as I type, and she is amazing. I still had some things to get organized (getting the yard fenced, etc) and wanted to wait til I was on vacation, so Bill was kind enough to look after Lucy for 3 weeks (who knew 3 weeks could go so painfully slowly??)
She has now been home for 3 days and it has been such an interesting experience watching her discover retired life! Some challenges I knew to expect from all your wonderful posts...and some we're figuring out as we go! I keep having to remind myself how strange and new all this must seem to her, because she is managing most things remarkably well (and those she is not, I'm sure I will be asking advice on in the near future!)
Below are a couple shots of Lucy in her new bed. She seems to be quite the hoarder, so the first is of her with all her toys as well as a skull mace that she "borrowed" from the Halloween decorations. The second is what must have been a great nap.
I've so much enjoyed reading about all of your Greys and I hope to keep following them in the future.
Lucy and I are in London if anyone in the area is interested in walks/play.
