On Thursday night we had to say goodbye to my best friend King. The ravages of age had taken their toll on him and at the age of 14 years, 2+ months the painful decision was made. He was my buddy, my dog, he was always by my side. I have spent the last 4 years sleeping on the couch because he needed me by him and he could no longer walk upstairs. He always met me at the door when I came home from work. We were lucky to have him. Fate had dictated he was going to be mine. He was a bounceback that I had initally picked for our first grey. My wife wanted ZsaZsa, she won and so we brought her home. The very day I called to ask about getting ZsaZsa a companion, Bill informed us that King had been brought back to GRA because at his first home the female grey didn't like him. When Bill told me that I said we'll pick him up Sat morning as I knew he was meant for us. I will miss him for the rest of my life. I was never able to have a dog as a child so he holds a special place in my heart and always will. King, you gave me more than I could of ever given you.

I'm so sorry for your loss and heart break! King will never go away and will remain in your heart forever. You two where meant to be together, as you said, it was fate. King will always hold that special place, first dogs always do.
King was very lucky to reach the rip old age of 14, what a lucky boy he was. You gave it all to him, sleeping on the couch for 4 years, wow, that is true love! His memories will be with you always and best of all he knows you loved him dearly.
Take care and cherish the time you had with him, I know how difficult it will be without him greeting you at the door.

I am saddened to read about your loving boy King. It is comforting for you to know that King left you a piece of his heart and he took a big piece of your heart with him. You gave him the best life any dog could ask for and he was aware of that and loved you for it. Rest in eternal peace King.

It is hard to find words to help ease the pain of such a loss. King was destined to be yours from day one. He shared his life and gave his heart, as you, in turn, did with him. As you cope with the void, remember that he will never really leave you. His spirit will lovingly be there each time you turn around...each time you open that door.
Godspeed dear King.

So sorry to hear about your loss of your beloved King. You are right he was destined to spend his life with you and he sure spent as much time as he possible could, 14 years of wonderful memories. He may not be with you physically, but when it's really quite and still listen with your heart and you will feel him still there with you looking out for you.
Run free King.

That is an inspiring age for a greyhound to reach. I am so sorry your boy had to go; he's in good company at the Rainbow Bridge with all of our beloved angels.

So very sorry for your loss. King was one very lucky boy to have lived a fulfilling long life with you. As hard as it is, that final act of kindness that you gave to your beloved boy is the greatest act of love there is. May your heart find peace.
