I'm taking a survey in the hopes of getting a clue about Kawaii's age by looking at the aging of greyhounds, or at least one aspect of them, their greying muzzles as they age.
I'd appreciate it if people could share their stories, etc. There may not be a pattern but hey, that's why we post questions.
Thanks in advance!

I can't seem to edit my polling options. I'd like to change the one option to 9-10 yrs + so that our senior seniors don't feel left out Can someone assist? Modify post didn't work. Lisa

Balue's ever so handsome face started getting some white at about 5.5yrs. I think it just makes him even more distinguised

Either A - the black dogs go grey on their muzzles early (See Kennelmom's Betty.) B. - because they're black it is more noticeable. At least that's my observation, but I'm no expert. Stormy will be 11 in Sept. and her grey, in her red fur, is much more obvious this year.

Well, Araley started to go grey in her black mask before she turned four, just about the time Dexter came home. It's only become really obvious in the past year, but she was definitely starting to go grey before she turned four. Adoption photo: When she started going grey: Now: Dexter has really only turned in the past year. He always had a bit of white on his muzzle but he's noticeably gone grey in the past 6 or so months (so after he turned 5). Adoption photo: Now:

OMG Aradex...those photos of Araley sitting are sooooooooooooooooo cute!!!! They are both darling, but those 'sit' pictures!!! ;D Gigi started to going noticeably whiter in the face when she was about 6, but this last year (she will be 9 in July) she's gotten a lot whiter! This is from last January...

Hmmm this is really interesting so far. I can't wait to see if the 4-6 yr range continues with the rest of the dogs.
So far Kawaii isn't greying at all, so, as I've suspected all along, she MAY be MUCH younger than what the Humane Society had suspected. If they were right, she'd be about 6 yrs old by now, but her teefers are still very white, her energy level is waaaay higher than I would associate with 6 yrs old and she isn't greying at all yet. In fact, her coat is substantially darker than it was when I first met her. She is a true red fawn now as oppposed to a blonde one. I think she was likely just a lanky, undernourished young dog needing some TLC. Being a bit rough around the edges can make a dog look older than they really are on first glance.
Her trainer says she acts like a 3 yr old, not a puppy but not calm and mature yet.
