We said good-bye to our beloved Cassidy on Thursday. She was our first rescue - an Irish Wolfhound/Terrier cross. We found her abandoned by her family at the pound and fell in love. She was about 14 1/2 years old, so she was definitely living on the terrier genes the last few years. She gracefully accepted greyhound siblings and even let them be the boss. She adored the greywalks and parades. People would ask what breed she was, and to the amusement of my greyt friends I would seriously say that she was a rare breed - a coated greyhound. And then we would wait to see how long I could string them along. Several bought my story even when I said she was the only one in the whole world. She was one of a kind. She was loyal and affectionate and loved to please and really earned the nickname "Sweetie Girl." She took her jobs as house watchdog and my personal protector very seriously. She was an awesome pet therapist and loved visiting the seniors' homes. She was an accomplished athlete - she had 2 obedience titles, a rally obedience title and several agility titles. She was one qualifying run short of her master's title when I retired her because she suffered a TIA. She would have made it earlier if her Mom had been more skillful (its a team effort.) In her younger days she could keep up with the greys. She had been showing signs of her age recently, and then on Monday we found the lump. It was cancer and doubled in size in 2 days. She let us know it was time and made it easy for us, giving kisses and thumping that tail right to the end. We are richer for having had her in our lives. Inge and Larry

We are so sorry.
Cassidy certainly was a special girl. We missed her at the last few parades when she was unable to attend. What a full and wonder life you gave her. We'll never forget your coated grey girl.
Godspeed sweet Cassidy as you join your sister Jana at the bridge.
