It is with a heavy heart that I write this post.
Last night we had to put our sweet, sweet boy down. My heart is breaking.
We got Tiger 8 years ago when he was 4. I can still remember the day I went to pick him up. I talked to Bill about adopting and he said he had the perfect boy for me. The day I picked him up Bill met me at the barn and said "I have the perfect little boy for you". When he brought him out I still remember thinking "little, he's not so little".
He came to our home and fit in perfectly. He was the best dog one could ask for.
I remember when he used to run around the yard like a crazy then stop suddenly and stand there like he was frozen. We used to call it the "frozen dog". He continued this throughout his life, just a a slower pace the past while.
He was quiet, most of the time you didn't know we had a dog. He was very tolerant, sweet, just a big sucky boy.
We adopted Fiona four years ago and he got a sister who kept him on his toes. Kept the old boy active until the end.
The past few weeks he really when down. Took him to the vet on Friday and had test done because he just wasn't himself. Didn't want to eat, slept a lot and had become very unsteady on his feet. ECG, blood work and x-rays showed nothing to be worried about. He was just getting old and needed a little medication for his arthritis. Last night just as I was getting ready to go to bed I heard noise from his bed. Found him having a seizure. This went on for 20 minutes on and off. The vet was called and his was rushed in. Then the worst thing I could ever hear was said. The vet suspected that he had cancer in his brain. He gave him meds to calm him and said he could send him home with more but he would likely just lay there. He would not get any better.
I am going to miss him.
Run free my sweet Tiger, run free. I will find you at the rainbow bridge one day.
