We definately feel for your loss. Yesterday was exactly 6 months ago that our Emma crossed the bridge. She was a shy girl too. I'm sure she and Jana will become fast friends. Our hearts are with you in this most difficult time.

Oh, Inge and Larry! I'm so sorry to hear that you had to help little Jana to the bridge. She was truly a special girl, and an awesome greyhound ambassador. Hugs from Lewis and I.

I'm so sorry to hear about Jana. You're right when you say we've all been there and will be again, but it doesn't make it any easier. We can only enjoy them for the short time we have them and like you did, give them as much love as possible.

We received the autopsy results today. Jana had the herniated discs that my vet found at the base of her spine, as well as some mild inflammation around the discs in her neck. These were the result of normal degeneration and, although they were undoubtedly sore she had learned to live with the discomfort and never complained. the source of her acute pain and paralysis was a very large brain tumour, located at the bottom back of her brain. It was pressing on and comprimising her pituitary gland and compressing her nerves. They don't know yet if it is malignant. Probably not because a tumour that size would have metastisized. But it was growing fast which explains the rapid onset. The vet verified that euthanasia was the right choice. The tumour was growing and they would not have been able to control the pain. We do miss her and we wish that she could have died peacefully in her sleep of old age, but that was not to be. She is at peace now and as beautiful and sassy as ever. I have trouble timewise and financially competing with more than one dog at a time, but I have been finding it difficult not having a competition dog. Cassidy is retired and I've only taught Eddie the basics. Poor Eddie is going to school! And he isn't impressed.

Oh, Inge. You must have taken great comfort in hearing the autopsy report. Poor little girl. Knowing that you did the right thing for Jana in her last moments has to be a great relief for the two of you.
