A few days ago our 10 year old grey, Tag, suddenly had what looked and felt like just extra loose, hanging skin under his neck. Otherwise he seemed perfectly healthy. Then yesterday evening he refused his dinner and even fresh chicken. He was still drinking a bit, peeing and pooping normally.
Then the loose skin became more of a hard-ish lump under his chin. We took him to the emergency vet and waited there for 3 hours. By the time we arrived at the vet, the lump had gone soft again and mostly seemed just like loose skin once again. We were low on the triage list, and they couldn’t tell us if it would likely be less than another 3 hours, or more. Tag seemed stable and just really tired but he wouldn’t lie down on the tile floor. So we decided we might as well take him home so he could rest properly and take him somewhere else the next day.
We couldn’t find anywhere that could fit him in today, but will be taking him in to a vet tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I was hoping that someone else might have experienced something similar with their greyhound so I can get some advanced knowledge about possible causes and maybe help the vet to know which tests to do, etc. Thanks!

i also hope Tag is okay. If you are on Facebook, you may want to ask on either GRAYT Greyhounds or Camp Greyhound for vet recommendations or advice....lots of members are more active there now...

How is Tag? Our Bruce had loose skin on his belly that was fluid that eventually reabsorbed into his body. The root cause was an infection to a wound that he had on his side. Doesn’t at all like the same thing. I hope your boy is okay.
