We've had her for 5 years. She's my baby too and I love her so much. My son is only 1 and I've been working so hard to keep them separated unless I'm right there to make sure he's being gentle with her. Someone else was "watching" them while I was making dinner and I heard it happen. I'm just not the kind of person to allow my child to harrass animals, nor would I ever leave babies and dogs together unattended. I never thought this would ever happen in my home and now it has.
It's not the dog's fault. She's the sweetest, most sensitive creature. She's just not typically dog friendly and feels nervous around infants and small children. I think I have to rehome her now and I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about how to do that. I don't want to send her back to the kennel. Ideally I could keep her here until I find a suitable home for her.
Any information would be helpful.

I am sorry this has happened. Give Heather a call. According to the adoption contract you signed, the greyhound is to be returned back to the kennel if for any reason you can't keep her.

I'm so sorry this happened and you're facing this decision. Call Heather and don't worry. She will find a wonderful home for your fur baby.

Thanks for your support everyone. We've got them separated into different areas of our home, only letting Oni into the main area when baby is sleeping. We're trying to give her lots of walks and attention and she gets to sleep on our bed all day. She doesn't enjoy being left out of family time though :/ I will contact Heather to see if there's a better situation out there for Oni than this. Don't worry Greys4us, I would rehome with gra's involvement, but we absolutely would not return her to the kennel. We'll see how they can help while we keep Oni in our care.
Take care everyone
