On Saturday, we said goodbye to Dexter. We found out on the 27th of October that he had cancer. We were hoping to get another few weeks or even months with him, but over the course of the week, his appetite disappeared and he was showing signs of being in pain. We were able to give him a "movie night" complete with the popcorn he loved, a steak dinner, a last walk without his annoying little brothers, and some Sausage McMuffins before he went. He left us the way he lived the last few years, peacefully with his head in my lap. He will be missed. Dexter when he first came home. Dexter at a greyhound run. At the adoption group picnic in June. At the picnic again. Getting a Timbit in August. His steak dinner. Goodbye, sweet boy.

My heart is breaking reading this post. I am so sorry for your loss.
Dexter was a lucky pup to find his way into such a loving family.
I hope that with time your heart will fill up with all of the happy memories you have of your boy replacing the pain of losing him.
Hugs to your family.

Oh no...so sudden and so devastating. I am so, so sorry. Take care through the sadness ... and always know that Dexter's life was happy and complete with your love. He will always be with you in spirit.
Godspeed Dexter.
