This used to be such a vibrant forum. What has happened -- why facebook when not everyone goes there?

I also miss the interesting and lively threads. Like you, I do not go the Facebook route, so am also hoping that things eventually pick up again here.

You are absolutely correct - "this use to be a vibrant forum" and I have tried a couple of times to get other backs onto this site - and hopefully they will come back as when we first adopted two greyhounds I don't know what I would have done without this website as it helped us immensely as we never had greyhounds before. I have learnt so much from others as the information here is so valuable. Our two greys both passed away last year. We adopted a beautiful little black beauty in April and she was so shy but she has just "blossomed" and has lived up to her name: Sally Blossom - use to be "Pease Blossom". She runs like the wind and plays ball in the enclosed dog park every morning - I throw the ball, she brings it back every time and drops it at my feet waiting for me to throw it again. She sure entertains everyone walking by as they stop and stare in awe and the other pups in the dog park just watch her. GRA Facebook subscribers "please come back and let us know what your pup is up to".

Thanks for the update on Sally Blossom! She sounds wonderful. I lost my little black girl about 4 years ago and your story brought back greyt memories of her. I sure do miss her and having a little female. I have two boys, Ghost (white) and Jed (black). Since facebook this site unfortunately has go to pots. I miss it as well. I am on facebook and I see what's gong on there as it's easier to post these days...updates of hounds etc. I do wish there was a way to link that in here. A lots of information and history for me on this board.
Daylight, I love the updates on Light and Joker.

I greatly miss the Forum. Facebook may be convenient, but the updates are quick, and lack the detail that the Forum has...the stories and the depth in them. I personally am only on Facebook to monitor the goings on on my skin-kids to ensure their safety on social media.
We hace very recently moved, and have been frantically renovating the old house to put it up for sale...hence the reason for not posting on the Forum. We have missed Gotcha Days and Birthday int he past two months, for the first time in 5 years! I feel horrible. But, there it is. Life takes over sometimes. Once the dust settles and the house goes on the market, pics of the new house and the antics of the Crazy Quints will come to the Forum.
I just hope people will be here to see them...

I also miss the forum. It has really helped me over the past year. I am guilty, I have not been visiting as often as I used to. I am also not a Facebook fan but I think we are a minority! One thing I would love to see updated on the Forum is the Greyhound Merchandise listing. Although there are tons of places to buy stuff online, I would prefer to buy items made locally, (GRA area - southwestern Ontario), or at least endorsed by other forum members. Owen needs some snazzy new collars!

Facebook is just so much easier and since I'm on there all the time anyway... And it's easier to share pictures on Facebook.

I really prefer the format of the forums to FB. Posts get so quickly baried on FB and it's hard to find anything again.
I do miss the community feel of the forum also, but sadly I'm as guilty of not posting here as everyone else. I do 99% of my internet surfing on my smartphone and FB wins out just for ease of use.

I think this thread has been the most lengthy one in a long time and it feels so good to touch base with so many members. I too miss the forum ... the stories and photos of the hounds are more personal but I think the most important thing to remember is that the forum posts are permanent and can be researched at any time going back over several years.
I have to admit I haven't been on the forum in at least a few weeks but it's not due to lack of interest, I've just found myself far too busy. I'm lucky if I can even get through the GRA FB every few days. Most people on this particular thread have been a huge part of the forum for quite a while .. even though some of us have never met in person, you feel like they have become your friends and the hounds a part of your family. And for those that are new to the forum, we welcome you with open arms and look forward to getting to know you and your hound.
Hopefully in a few days I'll get myself organized and become active on the forum once again. Time to get caught up .....

I too miss the personal feel of the forum over Facebook. You felt like you got to know the families and their hounds much better here.
I am thankful that as new grey owners all those years ago J and I had this as a resource to come to with our questions.
I will continue to check both the forum and Facebook.

This is so great that so many have responded to this thread and miss the forum so much. I am guilty of not posting put it has/was always a valuable source of information for my precious greyhounds for health and other reasons. This forum was built for GRA Canada and represented this amazing adoption agency for many years. Everyday (almost?) I am asked about greyhounds when I am with my beautiful dogs (the ambassadors for greyhounds)and many times I tell them to go to GRACanada.com to check out the adoptable greyhounds and get information. It is very encouraging to see this response. Thank you.

I definately prefer the forum to facebook. I am not on facebook but have checked out the GRA page before, it is greyt too but I just prefer the formatting of the forum that allows users to look up specific information. This forum has been extremely helpful to me in my adventures of greyhound ownership, I hope everyone continues to post and keep the forum going.

I can't even count the number of times I have come to this forum for information, it's been so helpful in my first year and a half of hound-ism (the newest religion)

oh dear...I am guilty too, of forgoing the forum for the ease of facebook recently. I don't have alot of 'surfing' time anymore, but I do miss the forum discussions and updates on various houndies. I will try again, to come here even abit more often...but yes, in the time I've been away from here, it has been 'quieter' for sure, with not as many posts...and thats sad to see PS Hi to Sally Blossom and her Momma, my grey Wynonna and I met you @ Garnetwood a few wks ago
