Anybody else got one? I don't mean howling or barking, but Hector seems to be trying to say something, LOL. He's got a cushion out in the hallway, in front of my office door. Every once in a while he'll sit up, look right at me, and start this almost conversational "yowling" thing. I really have to get it on tape. He'll keep it up until he has my attention. It's funny as heck so I try my best to ignore him because he'll stop as soon as I start chuckling. Holly doesn't do it, she'll just sit there and look at him as if he's lost his marbles.

Edie talks. She greets her friends on walks, and is most voluble when going into (dog) school or the vet clinic. Here's a short video clip: s85.photobucket.com/albums/k43/GreyPoopon/?action=view¤t=ESchoolV1.flvShe also talks to dogs she doesn't know/like on walks. It can sound almost the same, but it is NOT a greeting. I have to watch her ears to see if she's happy (ears back) or concerned (ears up). She also whines. But it doesn't work on me, so she does it less than she used to.

That's it! As a matter of fact, your video clip woke Hector up (an unusual event, LOL).
We grew up in the Lassie era, so we call it the "Is Timmie in the Well?" phenomena because it sounds like he's really trying to tell us something. In reality, Hector's probably trying to remind me that we're low on treats, and to pick some up next time I'm at the store, LOL.

Awww, I love it when they chatter on like that. Angel Icarus was a talker too, he didn't do it often, but when he did, I loved it. Tramp, at the kennel, does this too. She's quite the chatty lady.

Emily does it too, but only as a form of protest.
Meals don't happen unless she waits on her bed. More often than not, she runs into the kitchen in a frenzy if she suspects it's feeding time. When I tell her: "On your bed", I get lip!

Hotwire talks to us too. It is totally a conversation, and he expects you to participate! I love it! He also responds if you ask him if he is goofy or crazy!

Outta makes some interesting noises but theyre nothing the ones mentioned here. We are blessed with a grumbler....she literally sounds like an old man who is mumbling under his breath, everytime something happens that shes not so pleased with. Eg...she trying to sleep and the kids are too loud...she grumbles... when its supper time for us and shes sent to her bed...she lays down with a grumble...when the puppy takes over her bed right before she was about to lay down...she grumbles....its really the best way I can describe it as it sounds nothing at all like a growl. Just her way of letting us know that shes not happy with the least amount of effort possible I guess. lol

she literally sounds like an old man who is mumbling under his breath, everytime something happens that shes not so pleased with Emily grumbles as well. When we first got her, we thought she was stiff, as she often does it as she's settling into a new position. She also sighs quite a bit. When we spoke to Dr Vet on our first visit, she said the grumbling is probably a habit she picked up at the kennel (she wanted peace and quiet back then too?) and the sighing was probably from boredom. We weren't about to tiptoe around Missy. We did, however, try to entertain her regarding the boredom. Her response: "Uugh"! Or is it "Mmph"!??!? Protesting, grumbling, sighing, whimpering - but hardly ever a bark. I vote for Goofy in Hotwire's case. The face says it all!

Athena is also quite chatty! Apparently she missed the class pre-retirement that mentioned greyhounds don't bark. HA HA and HA!
If Athena doesn't get her way, she tells you all about her dissatisfaction. Quite loudly and very emphatically. And if you answer back? watch out! She will let loose!

Smitty barked for the first time in 6 mths, it was a little Woof....around 8pm when they get their bedtime snack...he is more accurate than a Swiss watch!!!
Sometimes Stinger will say something that I swear sounds like:
Apple-apple-apple-apple-apple -LAW!
Maybe he is Sir Issac Newton reincarnated?!?
