We recently purchased a used camcorder to see what our Theo was doing while we weren't home. This was suggested by our vet and our new dog behavior trainer. I was amazed to see what Theo was going through. If you have one or could borrow one, it might give you insight to what is happening. The other thing is that you may need a trainer to translate, but well worth it. Our trainer did tell us that dogs are very sensitive to our body language. Is it possible that she is picking up on increased stress from you or a family member? I'm very sorry to hear that you are ill a lot, I sincerely hope that changes soon for all of you!

I might ask a vet to take a look at her, just to be on the safe side. I had a lot of housebreaking problems with River and it turned out it was caused by, at least in part, pain due to osteoarthritis. Our situation is a little different because River always pees in her crate on her bed, regardless of whether it is day or night. Riv is only 3. The link to indoor is peeing rain- she always dies it if its been raining for a long time - so I give her a half dose of Rheumocam for the arthritis when it is going to rain for several days in a row. I also walk her for shorter periods more frequently. She is in less pain, so she is more willing to squat outside instead of on the soft squishy bed.
Since the rain discovery and the warm weather started, no accidents. But I am not keeping my fingers crossed.
As River's pee spot is her bed, in her crate, occasionally after I do something small like take a stuffy that she keeps in there out to sew up a hole, I can't rule out territorial disputes. She peed on her new bed a few weeks ago. The weather was warmer so I'd flipped the bed over so the fluffy warm side was on the bottom and the cooler fabric side was on top. After I washed the bed and returned it to her, fabric side up, she did not pee on it again.
Diagnosing a housebreaking problem is tough and very stressful, believe me, I know. Hang in there. Either it will get better soon or you will soon have enough clues to figure out one or two causes. I would get a vet's opinion, just in case.
My vet believes River's problem is pain and/or anxiety about rain. Maybe your pup is suddenly afraid of the dark?
In the meantime, I have found that white vinegar does a good job neutralizing the urine and getting out the stain. Let the vinegar set for 15 minutes. Then I wash the area with River's dog shampoo and give River a bath. The shampoo works well for getting rid of the vinegar smell - as well as the smell of dog. Since I switched to that concoction, no repeeing. But you also don't want to give a greyhound a bath too often so take my advice with some salt.
Hope this helps. Keep us posted.
